About Statilia maculata

Statilia maculata, the Asian Jumping Mantis, is a slender and agile praying mantis widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, extending into East Asia and the Pacific. One of the more commonly encountered mantises across its range, it is nonetheless a handsome and well-proportioned specimen — characterised by its mottled, cryptic colouration and the distinctive dark spot on the inner surface of its forelegs that gives the species its name (maculata: spotted). Lively and fast-moving in life, maculata makes a clean and classic spread specimen that displays the elegant proportions of a mid-sized Mantidae to excellent effect, and is a solid and satisfying addition to any Mantodea collection.

Perfect for entomologists, natural history collectors, educators, artists, interior designers seeking authentic Victorian cabinet aesthetics, and anyone passionate about the extraordinary diversity of the insect world.
