About This Specimen

Merops philippinus is one of the most elegant and aerially accomplished birds of South and Southeast Asia — a slender, long-tailed bee-eater of open country, forest edge, and coastal habitats, renowned for its vivid plumage of green, chestnut, blue, and yellow and its spectacular aerial insect-hunting technique. The Javan subspecies javanicus is distributed across Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands. The meropid skeleton is anatomically distinctive — featuring a long, decurved bill adapted for catching and de-stinging aerial prey, a compact and aerodynamically refined body, and elongated central tail feather attachment points clearly visible in this specimen. Presented as a complete dry skeleton, it offers exceptional anatomical detail and scientific interest — a precise and striking addition to any serious natural history collection or artistic display.

Perfect for ornithologists, naturalists, natural history collectors, educators, artists, and interior designers seeking authentic specimens with genuine scientific and aesthetic value.
