About Daldorfia horrida

Daldorfia horrida, commonly known as the horrid crab or spiny crab, is a striking parthenopid crab found across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa through to Southeast Asia, Japan, and Australia. Its most distinctive feature is its dramatically sculptured carapace — heavily tuberculated and adorned with sharp, irregular spines and ridges that give it an almost prehistoric, armoured appearance. This extraordinary surface texture, combined with its angular, elongated chelipeds, makes it one of the most visually arresting crustacean specimens available to collectors. A species of genuine scientific interest and undeniable aesthetic impact, Daldorfia horrida is a bold centrepiece for any serious natural history collection or cabinet of curiosities display.

Perfect for marine biologists, natural history collectors, educators, interior designers seeking authentic curiosity-cabinet aesthetics, and anyone captivated by the remarkable diversity and drama of the natural world.
